About Jason

When I was a kid I would say it all the time... I wish I had a million dollars. I wish I had superpowers. I wish I had a race car. I grew up and my body matured but my mind was still wishing. 16 years working in the family-owned print shop where I went from being a delivery driver to one of the most profitable salespeople in the company. I remember going to my immediate supervisor and asking questions. The answers came so easily to him. I would think, "I wish I had his experience." One day something changed and my wish was granted. I was standing in his office and I asked a question... “How do I....?" Here's what he said, "The answer is there why don't you go find it? Come back and see me if you still need help." I found the answer that day. And with few exceptions, I found the answers from that day forward. My supervisor did me a favor... He taught me how to think!
What I learned:
Whatever it is I desire... I've already got what it takes to get. Last I checked I live in the greatest country in the world. Everything I could ever want or need is within reach if I am willing to put in the time to learn how to get it. And for that to happen my perspective had to change from being entitled to grateful. Being grateful for "the time to learn" is one of the greatest gifts I've ever been given. Dr. Randy Pausch understood this when he wrote his “last lecture.” With pancreatic cancer and only months to live, Randy inspired many to live a life of wonder and used his remaining days to help others learn. The reason for writing his last lecture he says... " was for three people and they will hear it when they're older." Go ahead, look it up... Randy Pausch last lecture. I think about my kids and why I write. It's not for the likes or the comments. For one, I am becoming a better person with the time I have left and two, so my kids will one day know who their dad was. And here's my point. Very few of us know how much time we have left on earth. Wouldn't it be great if we all lived a life with a perspective like Randy? Wouldn't it be great instead of being entitled we could all be grateful? It's time to stop wishing and take action.
